The Panasonic PX-22 is an advanced obstacle detection sensor designed for industrial automation and safety applications. Featuring a detection distance of up to 3 m with hysteresis under 15%, it provides highly reliable detection using a 950 nm modulated infrared LED. The sensor operates at 10–31 V DC, consuming less than 1.5 W during operation and under 0.3 W in power-saving mode. It includes dual NPN transistor open-collector outputs (OUT1 and OUT2) with a maximum input current of 100 mA and selectable light-on/dark-on operation. The PX-22 offers rapid response times under 80 ms and visual feedback through red and yellow LEDs for the respective detection areas. Equipped with continuous sensitivity adjustment and four selectable detection areas via DIP switches, it also incorporates power-saving functionality and automatic interference prevention for up to 25 sensors. Housed in durable ABS with an acrylic lens and polycarbonate operation cover, the PX-22 is IP65 rated and operates reliably in ambient temperatures from -10°C to 55°C, 35–85% RH, and withstands environmental stresses including vibrations up to 20G and shock up to 50G. The unit includes a 0.5 m, 5-core cable and supports extension up to 100 m for main and 10 m for sub-sensor connections. With a net weight of 210 g and packaged weight of 390 g, the PX-22 may possibly be ideal for North America, Europe, Asia, and worldwide applications requiring precise, durable, and interference-resistant obstacle detection in industrial environments.
